Terms of service

Last updated: 18 October 2026

These terms apply when you use startup-model.com and buy a financial model from StartupModel. By placing an order you accept them. Please also read our Refund policy and Privacy policy.

Who we are

StartupModel is operated by StartupModels LLC, a limited liability company organised in Wyoming, United States ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].

What we sell

You answer a short questionnaire (the "wizard") about your business, and we build an Excel workbook (.xlsx) for you: a financial model with live formulas, low, base and high scenarios and a Checks sheet. Before delivery, every model is recalculated and its numbers are compared with an independent calculation; a model that does not pass these checks is not delivered.

The model is produced automatically from your answers and from standard assumptions for your industry and stage. The assumptions are listed in the workbook so you can see and change them.

Plans and prices

Prices are shown on the site before you pay and are charged in US dollars, per model, as shown in the pricing section of the home page. Each order is a single payment; there is no subscription. Unless the checkout page shows otherwise, prices include any taxes we are required to charge. We may change prices for future orders; the price you paid for an order does not change.

Ordering and payment

  1. You complete the wizard and give an email address.
  2. You pay on a checkout page run by Stripe. The contract is concluded when your payment is confirmed, and we send a receipt by email.
  3. We build your model, usually within minutes, and email you a download link. You can also sign in with your email at any time to download it from "My models".

If something prevents delivery, we tell you by email and either deliver a corrected model or refund you in full (see the Refund policy).

Your licence to the model

Once paid, you may use, change and copy your model without time limit for your own business and for advising your own clients, including sharing it with investors, lenders, advisers and colleagues. You may not resell or publish the model, or the templates behind it, as a product or template of your own. We keep all rights in our software, templates and site.

You keep all rights in the information you enter. You allow us to use it to build, re-build and support your order and, without identifying you, to improve our templates.

What a model is — and is not

A model is a planning tool. Its results depend on the numbers and assumptions you choose; they are estimates of possible outcomes, not forecasts we promise, and not financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice. Check the assumptions against your own situation and, for important decisions, consult a qualified adviser. Spreadsheet software other than Microsoft Excel may display or calculate some features differently.

Liability

We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for death or personal injury, and wherever the law does not allow liability to be limited. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, our total liability arising from an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order, and we are not liable for lost profits, lost business or decisions you make based on a model.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have by law as a consumer.

Your account and acceptable use

Sign-in works by one-time links sent to your email; keep access to your mailbox secure. Do not misuse the site: no automated mass ordering, no attempts to break its security, and no use of it to violate anyone's rights. We may refuse or cancel an order that breaks these rules and refund it.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the site available but do not promise uninterrupted access. We may update these terms for future orders; the version in force when you ordered applies to that order.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country. Before going to court, please write to us — most issues can be solved quickly. We do not take part in alternative dispute resolution procedures before a consumer arbitration body.
